Why take Intro to Tech / Essentials / Nitrox course?
The Intro to Tech / Essentials / Nitrox class is a gateway into technical and cave training and an excellent way to experience technical diving personally.
Some divers use the Intro to Tech / Essentials / Nitrox course to improve on the less-than-optimal training they have received during traditional fast-track entry-level recreational courses. Others see the course as a ticket to participate in technical and cave classes and projects. Many technical divers and even experienced Open Water Instructors use the course to improve basic skills and gain access to advanced technical cave training programs. It is not uncommon to have divers with very diverse backgrounds in the same class, which makes this course completely unique in the diving industry. Everybody will benefit, regardless of their current level of certification or experience.
Who is it for?
The IANTD/TDI Intro to Tech / Essentials / Nitrox allows all divers to advance basic diving skills. It provides a gateway into technical and cave training programs for non-technical trained divers (already certified by any recognized diving agency).
This course also aims to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using Nitrox mixtures up to 100 percent oxygen and to teach them how to plan and conduct standard staged decompression dives.
What will I learn?
Course outcomes include, but are not limited to: technical equipment configuration and use (Basic 5 skill), trim and buoyancy, propulsion techniques including backward kicks and helicopter turn, valve management (V-Drill skill), gas sharing (S-Drill skill), DSMB deployment and unconscious diver rescue from the bottom.
This course will supplement any training that divers may have already received and give them more confidence in their basic skills even if they do not desire to pursue more advanced training. The course also may include the theory and use of nitrox and staged decompression up to 45 mts (150 ft) depth.
